The bodies of eight Pakistani citizens who were brutally killed in Iran are scheduled to arrive in Bahawalpur tonight via a special military aircraft, diplomatic sources confirmed on Wednesday.
According to sources, the aircraft will land in the Iranian city of Zahedan to collect the bodies before flying them back to Pakistan. The repatriation is expected to take place around 2 AM, with the aircraft set to land at Bahawalpur Airport.
A solemn condolence ceremony will be held at the airport to honour the deceased, with both civil and military officials in attendance. Iranian officials, including the governor of Zahedan and other senior representatives, are also expected to attend the ceremony and pay tribute to the slain Pakistanis.
The event will include mourning music and formal expressions of solidarity from the Iranian administration.
Pakistan’s Consul General in Zahedan, Muhammad Rafi, will accompany the bodies during the repatriation, along with other officials from the Pakistani consulate.
Following their arrival in Bahawalpur, the bodies will be laid to rest in their hometown with full honours.
