Singer Beyoncé is one of the most well-known performers who will be among the first inductees of the newly approved Black Music & Entertainment Walk of Fame.
State Rep. Erica Thomas announced the news that the Atlanta City Council approved the new walk of fame and there will be an unveiling ceremony on June 17. “I am proud to have founded the Black Music and Entertainment Walk of Fame. As those around us try to silence the Black experience, it is more important than ever to preserve Black history. Our stories will not be silenced. Our history will not be forgotten. And, now, the successes of Black creators and entertainers will be memorialized here in Atlanta,” Thomas said.
The walk of fame will start at the corner of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Northside Drive in Atlanta, adjacent to the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Sidewalk medallions honoring Black entertainers and musicians will be installed along Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd in front of the Mercedes Benz Stadium this summer.
