KARACHI: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced bank holidays on the occasion of Eidul Adha 2022.
In a circular issued to president and chief executives of all banks, development financial institutions and microfinance banks, the central bank said the SBP will remain closed from 8th to 12th July, 2022 (Friday to Tuesday) being public holidays on the occasion of Eidul Adha.
Last week, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved a holiday of five days for Eid ul Adha. According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, the premier approved Eid ul Adha holidays from July 8 to 12.
It should be noted that Eid ul Adha in Pakistan will be observed on July 10 (Sunday).
Meanwhile, the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Wednesday opposed the decision taken by the federal government regarding the five-day-long Eid ul Adha holiday.
In a statement, the FPCCI said the five-day Eid holiday was “not a good decision”.
