QUETTA: Balochistan’s Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has completed survey of damages caused by rains and floods in the province, which shows that a total of 336 people lost their lives while some 186 were injured.
The report states that due to the torrential rains and flash floods, 115,304 houses were completely destroyed and some 20,626 were partially destroyed.
Besides these, crops standing on 439 hectares were damaged while some 2 lakh 92,526 cattle were washed away in flood channels. The report further states that 2,221 km of national and inter-provincial and link highways were affected.
The PDMA said more than 125,000 people trapped in the flood were shifted to safe places, relief materials delivered to more than 1 million people. Apart from this, cheques were distributed among the families of 336 people who died on behalf of the government.
It said 103 dams were severely affected by rains and floods, 25 bridges on national highways were also destroyed. A railway bridge at Harak was also swept away by the floods.
