ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court has extended the hearing of the bail petition filed by former interior minister Ahsan Iqbal till 13th February in the Narowal Sports City corruption case.
IHC Justice Luba Saleem Pervez conducted the hearing of the case. Earlier on 7th February, an accountability court extended Ahsan Iqbal’s judicial remand for 21 days in the same corruption case.
The former interior minister is facing charges of financial irregularities in Narowal Sports Complex construction and the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) for a sports city being established in Narowal a multi-billion-rupee project.
He was arrested on 23rd December 2019 by the National Accountability Bureau. Since then, Iqbal has been seeking post-arrest bail.
Iqbal insisted that the funds allocated on the NSC were authorized by the Federal Cabinet, Parliament and the National Economic Council at that time. He said the plan for the project had been revised and expanded. He was also hospitalized last month due to his worsened condition.
