The bodies of the 8 Pakistanis who were killed in Iran’s Sistan and Baluchestan province have been brought to their native district of Bahawalpur.
According to a report, the bodies of the Pakistani mechanics were transported late at night via a special aircraft to Islamabad, and then to Bahawalpur, from where they were taken to their native areas by ambulances.
In Bahawalpur, the sight of the bodies caused an uproar among the grieving relatives, with emotional scenes witnessed at the victims’ homes. The family members were overwhelmed with grief. All the bodies were laid to rest in their native areas after funeral prayers, which were attended by a large number of people.
It is worth mentioning that a telephonic conversation took place yesterday between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. According to the statement by the Foreign Office, the Iranian Foreign Minister expressed condolences over the martyrdom of the 8 Pakistanis in Sistan and assured full cooperation in bringing the perpetrators to justice.
Earlier on April 12, at least 8 Pakistani citizens were killed in an armed attack in Iran’s eastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan. These individuals, who belonged to the southern Punjab district of Bahawalpur, were allegedly tied up and shot dead by unknown armed assailants in a workshop in Iran’s Mehrestan district.
They had reportedly been working there as motor mechanics for nearly five years.
