Pakistan captain Babar Azam was criticized heavily for his captaincy errors and failing to step up in the chase of 368 after a 62-run defeat against Australia on Friday.
Pakistan were bundled out on 305 after a great start from Imam-ul-Haq and Abdullah Shafique in the chase. Babar Azam (18), Mohammad Rizwan (46), Saud Shakeel (30), and Iftikhar Ahmed (26) all started well but couldn’t keep up the momentum.
Netizens opined Babar Azam has to be involved in run chases like Indian legend Virat Kohli and also is not at the same level as the renowned ‘Fab Four’.
Some believed Babar Azam failed to build a team that has the mental strength or the tactical depth to finish games while some opined he is not a match winner.
Pakistan fans now want Babar Azam to regain his form since he has only one fifty in four innings he has played.
Babar Azam’s average is also the third worst among the captains in the 2023 World Cup.
It must be noted Pakistan will now travel to Chennai to play Afghanistan on October 23 at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium.
Pakistan lost their second straight game in the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 in India.
The Men in Green lost to India by seven wickets followed by 62 runs against Australia on Friday at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.
