According to NordPass’ annual report on the most frequently used passwords worldwide, the psychology of users when creating their passwords has not significantly changed.
Many users tend to opt for simpler passwords rather than more creative options.
For example, the most straightforward keys on a keyboard include the ascending numerical sequence found in the first row like “123456789” or simply “qwerty,” along with any other series of consecutive letters, as reported by The Verge.
A considerable number of individuals, when establishing their personal passwords, do not thoroughly consider the implications of a possible data breach instigated by cybercriminals; instead, they often want to complete the process as quickly as they can.
The list of the most frequently used passwords by NordPass is compiled using a 2.5TB database made up of “publicly accessible resources,” some of which are sourced from the Dark Web as well.
If your password appears on the list of the most common passwords, it’s time to think about updating it.
