RAWALPINDI: Due to the alleged corruption in the department, the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has failed to take action against the fake housing societies looting the people in the city.
According to details, illegal, fake, and bogus Kashmir Heaven Society has set up different phases in the areas under the patronage of the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA).
Sources prior to the development have informed that a suspect, identified as Sardar Jahangir, along with his other associates has looted billions of rupees by setting up a fake and illegal housing society.
The said housing society which has not been given any NOC by RDA nor has any planning permission, but the owners of the society allegedly sold plots worth billion of rupees to naive people, sources revealed.
The sources also claimed that the relevant authority earlier sealed the office of the Kashmir Heaven Society due to public complaints and pressure, but the work started the very next day, and no action was taken.
Meanwhile, other sources informed that Sardar Jahangir calls RDA chairman Tariq Murtaza as his business partner. “The owners of the societies allegedly have the patronage of RDA officers, which is why no legal action has been taken against them so far”, sources added.
According to available data from sources, more than 30 illegal housing societies in the jurisdiction of RDA, 25 in the jurisdiction of Municipal Corporation and Pothowar Town, 38 in Tehsil Murree, 21 in Taxila, 4 in Gujar Khan and one illegal housing society in Tehsil Kotlisattian Rawalpindi.
