SYDNEY: Australia’s Mitchell Starc enters 300 Test wickets club, becomes only the 2nd left-arm pacer from Australia to achieve the landmark after removing South African Rassie van der Dussen for a duck in the second innings in Brisbane on Sunday to achieve the feat.

At the ground where his Test career began 11 years ago, Mitchell Starc completed his journey to 300 wickets to elevate himself into the pantheon of great Australian fast bowlers.
It was at this same Brisbane venue in 2011 that Starc received his Baggy Green from Richie Benaud, quickly sealing a memorable maiden wicket when he had Brendon McCullum caught by David Warner.
Mitchell Starc, with his 300th Test wicket, and Pat Cummins struck early after Australia picked up a slender but vital 66-run first-innings lead over South Africa on the second morning of the three-match Test series opener at the Gabba. Marco Jansen and Kagiso Rabada had picked two apiece to wrap up Australia’s first innings on 218 but the visitors were themselves down to 3/2 by Lunch on Sunday (December 18).
