RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa has stressed upon the need for sincere efforts to avert a looming humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan.
He was talking to Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan Dr Geoffrey Shaw who paid a farewell call to him in Rawalpindi today (Friday).
During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, regional security situation and bilateral cooperation were discussed.
The COAS underscored the importance of peace and reconciliation initiatives in Afghanistan.
He thanked visiting dignitary for his services in Pakistan and acknowledged his contributions for fostering strong ties between the two countries.
The visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan’s role in Afghan situation, regional stability and pledged to keep working for better relations between the two countries.

Earlier, COAS Qamar Javed Bajwa had said that human tragedy must be stopped in Afghanistan and international consensus is needed on Afghanistan.
According to ISPR, Commander Royal Bahrain Naval Force Mohammed Yousif al-Asam visited General Headquarters (GHQ) and met with the Commander-in-Chief.
A statement issued by the ISPR said that issues of mutual interest, the situation in Afghanistan, and bilateral defense and security cooperation were discussed during the meeting.
The Bahraini commander expressed his desire to further enhance cooperation in various fields while praising the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces as well as Pakistan’s role in the situation in Afghanistan and its border management.
