Famous Pakistani singer Atif Aslam has highlighted notable facts related to his personal life and revealed that he always wanted to be a cricketer.
Known for creating magic with his voice, the singer recently appeared on an AB Talks with Anas Bukhash and a conversation about his life. that how becoming a musician was never on his list. Aslam shared as a kid, he was passionate about cricket and spent hours playing and watching the sport. “I was planning on becoming a professional cricketer. I was an athlete and I worked really hard for it.”
However, he shared that his parents took my passion just a hobby. “They never knew how good I was,” he said by adding that he gave up on that because his parents wanted him to study.

“I was skipping studies because my interest was to take wickets,” he revealed during the interview. Talking about a shift from cricket to music, Aslam explained that at the time when he explored has a voice, he did not know he would make a career out of it.
“One day, I heard Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan with Michael Brooks… and there was no turning back,” he said, revealing how the album had a mesmerising effect on him.
Aslam holds his father in very high regard. “My father has taught me consistency, how to treat others, and how to be stubborn professionally,” he said, attributing his focus and hard work to him.
Interestingly, Atif revealed when his first song ‘Aadat’ was released, the song that made him what he is today, his parents were unaware of his track. “I didn’t tell my parents about the first song,” Aslam laughed.
He continued that he was going to go with it and finally after three years, the neighbours came over one day and told his father that his son (Atif) has a great voice. “My father ignored them, and then said ‘wait what are you talking about and they said ‘oh his song is great,” he added.
Atif shade that initially, he did not like it but after some time this made them proud as many people started praising his parents by saying their son has a great voice and how a lot of people know Atif.
During the interview, Atif Aslam spoke about how his music connects him to not just God but other people. He shared how witnessing people dance to his songs is a surreal feeling. Even in a socially distanced world where Aslam’s identity is hidden with a face mask, just looking at people enjoying his music fulfills his purpose as an artist.
