ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Monday extended the interim bail of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan in a case filed against him after demonstrations were held following his disqualification by the ECP.
The PTI chairman’s attorney, Babar Awan, informed the court that the former prime minister and PTI leader Imran Khan is in Lahore and is unable to come before the court. The hearing was resumed by anti-terrorism court (ATC) judge Raja Jawad Abbas Hasan.
The interim bail was extended till January 10 after the court approved the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman’s request for exemption from personal appearance in the case.
Earlier, an anti-terrorism court (ATC) reserved a verdict on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leaders’ pre-arrest bail plea in case of violating section 144.
It is important to note that numerous PTI local leaders were arrested in a terrorism case over alleged vandalism committed during rallies in Islamabad after the ECP disqualified Imran Khan in the Toshakhana matter.
Imran Khan, a former prime minister and the leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, was disqualified by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in the Toshakhana reference pursuant to Article 63(1). (p).
