LAHORE: National Accountability Bureau has summoned Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif on 2nd June in assets beyond means case.
Shehbaz Sharif was probed by the NAB about the property he had inherited and loans that were taken from Barclays Bank between 2005 and 2007.
He was also questioned about his relation to Nisar Ahmed Gill and Ali Ahmed. The expenditure of party funds was also brought up during the investigation. He said that all his assets were declared while all records had been handed over to the authorities.
Last month, NAB warned Shehbaz Sharif that legal action will be taken against him if he fails to before the accountability body. However, the PML-N president didn’t appeared.
According to the PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb, Shehbaz Sharif provided the required documents to the NAB. “He is a cancer survivor and had been advised by the doctor against any travelling during the pandemic,” she added.
Previously, Shehbaz Sharif was summoned by the NAB along with a detailed record of properties inherited by him. According to the bureau, his family’s assets had grown from Rs23 million to Rs549 billion between 1998 and 2018. “As a public office holder Shehbaz needs to explain the increase in his assets,” NAB said.
