The Asia Cup 2025 final concluded with a thrilling contest on the cricket field, however, the Indian cricket team refused to receive the trophy from Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President Mohsin Naqvi. The video of the trophy being taken back has gone viral on social media.
According to sources, this decision of the Indian team was made on the instructions of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Despite immense pressure on the occasion, Mohsin Naqvi stood firm on his stance and made it clear that he himself would present the trophy and that this responsibility would not be given to any substitute person. According to reports, the Asia Cup trophy was later transferred to the Asian Cricket Council office.
As for the match result, Indian batsman Tilak Varma played a key role in securing victory against Pakistan by scoring a half-century. In this historic final played at Dubai International Stadium, India defeated Pakistan by five wickets and claimed the ACC T20 Asia Cup 2025 crown.
This final was the first-ever direct title clash between Pakistan and India in Asia Cup history. By winning the Asia Cup for the ninth consecutive time, India proved its dominance in the region, while Pakistan’s top-order batting brilliance could not compensate for the middle-order failure which cost the team dearly.
At the end of the final, the participants of the ceremony presented the runner-up trophy to the Pakistan team’s captain, however, the Indian team did not come forward to receive their trophy, after which ACC officials ended the ceremony and sent the trophy back.
कल एशिया कप जीतने के बाद काफ़ी समय होने के बाद ट्रॉफी मैदान में लाई गई, लेकिन टीम इंडिया ने लेने से मना कर दिया। फिर ट्रॉफी को वापस ले जाया गया।

The video of the trophy being sent back has gone viral on social media, in which it can be seen that instead of the Indian captain, ICC officials are taking the trophy away. Social media users believe that such disrespect to the sport has been witnessed for the first time in cricket’s history.
Along with Pakistanis, Indian social media users are also calling their team’s act unfair to the spirit of the game. In the recent past, renowned journalist and TV host Shashi Tharoor also strongly criticized the Indian team for not shaking hands.
