ISLAMABAD: The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) has announced to set up an ASEAN Kashmir Advocacy Group for highlighting occupied Kashmir’s issue at the international level.
The ASEAN Parliamentary delegation is on a four-day visit to Pakistan since Tuesday. The delegation comprises parliamentarians and civil society members from Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, and Thailand.

During a visit to the Foreign Office, the delegation declared support for the rights of the occupied Kashmiris and a just and lasting solution of the Kashmir dispute.
They also underlined their commitment to continue efforts to raise awareness about the Indian Occupied Kashmir (IoK) situation in the ASEAN region.

The Foreign Secretary also briefed the delegation in detail on the worsening human rights and humanitarian situation in occupied Kashmir due to inhuman lockdown since 5th August.
The visit has been arranged by the Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organization (MAPIM) for evaluation of the situation in the region after the Indian government’s recent unilateral and illegal decision to change the status of occupied Kashmir.
The delegation will also hold meetings with the leadership and people of occupied Kashmir.
