Former leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Asad Umar was rushed to hospital after he felt pain in the chest during a court hearing in Lahore on Tuesday morning.
Asad Umar was in the anti-terrorism court when he felt pain in the chest. Lawyers and court staff lifted the former minister rushed to his car and shifted him to a nearby hospital. Later, he was taken to the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC).
Asad Umar’s lawyer told media men that the former finance minister felt heartache in the courtroom after which he was taken to hospital.
Umer was the finance minister in the PTI government and was very close to then-Prime Minister Imran Khan. However, following the May 9 incident, he announced his departure from the party. He is now a member of the newly formed Awam Pakistan Party (APP), led by former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and former Finance Minister Miftah Ismail, both of whom are former leaders of the PML-N.
