KARACHI: Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar on Saturday said the coronavirus pandemic in the country can be controlled with joint efforts of all the provinces.
The minister addressing the meeting of National Command and operation Centre (NCOC) at Chief Minister’s House Karachi, after similar meetings were held in otherr provincial capitals.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah hosted the meeting that was participated by NCOC National Coordinator Lt. General Hamood-uz-Zaman and the Chief Secretary Sindh and Sindh Health Minister Dr Azra Pechuho.
Asad Umar said that holding meetings of NCOC and operation centres in provinces is aimed at further improving the performances.
He said the federal government in cooperation with provinces is working and shaping guidelines to contain the spread of coronavirus. He lauded the role played by provinces in controlling the pandemic.
Sindh Chief Minister said selective lockdown is being carried out in hot spot areas against spread of coronavirus and two separate hospitals for treatment of virus patients have been established in Karachi.
He said the sale and purchase of sacrificial animals in the streets have been banned in the province. The forum was told that around 700 cattle markets will be functioning across Pakistan on the eve of Eid-ul-Azha.
Chief Secretaries of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Kashmir regions attended the meeting on video link.
The NCOC had formulated the Standard Operating Procedures on Monday regarding cattle markets and imposition of smart lockdown in several places of the country ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.
