KARACHI: The Director General of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has revealed that one of the four Kenyan shooters involved in the killing of prominent journalist Arshad Sharif was reported injured and not produced before the Pakistani team that went to Kenya as part of their investigation into the case.
Talking to US broadcaster, DG FIA Mohsin Hassan Butt said the Pak team met with three Kenyan shooters who had contradictions in their statements, and they opted to take the stance already stated by the local police.
The Pak team comprising two officials Federal Investigation Agency Director Athar Wahid and Intelligence Bureau Deputy Director General Omar Shahid Hamid, visited Kenya a week back and collected information into the assassination of Arshad Sharif.
The prominent journalist was shot dead on October 23 in the outskirts of Nairobi in what initially was described as a case of mistaken identity.

The Pak team reported asked questions about who might have taken the missing gadgets at a crucial time when the journalist had just been shot, and sought details from two brothers Waqar Ahmed and Khurram Ahmed, who reportedly hosted Arshad Sharif in Kenya.
DG FIA Mohsin Butt said “Kenyan police opened fire when the car (carrying Arshad Sharif) did not stop,” adding “we believe that the Kenya police was involved in targeted killing of Arshad Sharif.”
He said “we were not given access to the shooter, who had got his hand injured in the incident two weeks back.”
