KAKUL: Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa has urged upon the cadets and the nation to not get distracted by fake news, and political wrangling in the country.
Addressing the 146th PMA Long Course Passing Out parade at Kakul on Saturday, the Army Chief said that the armed forces would never let any harm be caused to the integrity and sovereignty of Pakistan, and they were always ready to defend their motherland. “Pakistan is a peaceful country and wants to have cordial ties with neighboring countries. Having said that, the desire for peace must not be taken as weakness, and that armed forces would never allow any group, force, or country to destabilize peace and harmony in Pakistan,” he added.
He said no one should make any mistake about our collective resolve to defend our core interests and every inch of motherland. He said, “we have paid both in blood and kind to safeguard the country’s sovereignty and integrity.”
He said that “we are trying our best to break the political impasse which has denied the countries of South Asia to move forward and resolve all regional and bilateral issues in a peaceful and dignified manner.”
He further said that the people of South Asia also deserved prosperity and better living conditions. “This can only happen with sustained economic growth, development, and above all lasting peace. Therefore we must try hard to keep the flames of war away from the region,” he added.
He said we must give peace a chance by developing a mechanism to resolve all bilateral issues peacefully. He said we should collectively fight hunger, poverty, illiteracy, population explosion, climate change and disease
He said that the country’s defense was in strong hands, adding that “don’t get distracted by fake news and political wrangling in the country. The armed forces with the support of citizens will never allow any country, group, or force politically to economically destabilize Pakistan .”
Highlighting the role of security forces in successfully rooting out terrorism from the country, the Army Chief said that the armed forces had made great sacrifices to rid Pakistan of the menace of terrorism.
Army Chief General Bajwa reviewed the parade and gave awards to distinguished cadets. The coveted Sword of Honour was awarded to Academy Senior Under Officer Muhammad Daood Khan of the 146th PMA Long Course.
The President’s Gold Medal to Battalion Senior Under Officer Shoaib Akmal of 146th PMA Long Course, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Overseas Gold Medal to Company Senior Under Officer Jaggat Paudal of 146th PMA Long Course from Nepal, COAS Cane to CUO Mudassir Amin of 34th Technical Graduate Course and Commandant Cane awarded to CUO Haider Ijaz of 65th Integrated Course, Course Under Officer Zunaira Shafqat of 20th/LCC and Course Junior Under Officer Hira Irfan of 5th Basic Military Training Course.
