An incident of robbery took place near Super Highway Lyari Expressway in Karachi, where the victim alleged that the suspects were dressed in police uniforms, as reported by national media.
According to a report, the victim stated that he was traveling from Water Pump to Sohrab Goth when two personnel stopped him. The suspects, dressed in police uniforms and riding a motorcycle, searched him.
There were 250 thousand rupees in the vehicle, which the suspects forcibly took at gunpoint. The victim informed the police that the personnel damaged his vehicle, took his mobile phone, and fled after assaulting him.
A complaint has been submitted at Sachal police station, but the police are allegedly protecting their own. The complaint does not mention the police uniforms.
The police stated that an investigation is underway, and they have visited the crime scene. CCTV footage is being checked, and efforts are being made to identify the personnel involved.
Earlier, Karachi has witnessed a surge in lawlessness as street crimes continue to rise, leaving residents feeling unsafe in their own city. Incidents of robbery, snatching, and violence have become a daily occurrence, with criminals operating fearlessly, often in broad daylight.
Despite repeated complaints, law enforcement agencies have failed to curb the growing menace, raising serious concerns about their effectiveness. Citizens are losing their hard-earned money, mobile phones, and even lives in these violent encounters, while the perpetrators continue to evade justice.
