PESHAWAR: Radio Pakistan Peshawar has resumed its broadcast after its transmission was disrupted due to the burning down of its building by violent protesters.
The incident took place on May 9 when hundreds of protesters attacked the state media building in Peshawar, causing extensive damage to the property and equipment. The Director General of Radio Pakistan, Tahir Hussian, confirmed that the protesters wreaked havoc in the newsroom and other sections of the radio station. The mob set fire to the furniture inside, attacked the staff and looted government property, including cameras, microphones, and other office equipment.
However, pro-government media reports claimed that the armed forces played a crucial role in restoring the broadcast of Radio Pakistan Peshawar. They fixed the electricity and cleaned the Radio Pakistan building. The process of providing transportation and repairing the damaged parts of the building was challenging. The armed forces also provided some financial assistance to help Radio Pakistan resume its transmission.
The Director General of Radio Pakistan praised the efforts of the armed forces and said that they have always played a vital role whenever the country needed them. He expressed his gratitude to the armed forces and other authorities who helped in restoring the transmission of Radio Pakistan Peshawar.
