Khatija Rahman, daughter of Indian music maestro and Oscar-winning music composer AR Rahman has just gotten engaged.
The singer’s daughter shared the news on her Instagram. “With the blessings of the Almighty, I’m happy to announce to you all my engagement with Riyasdeen Shaik Mohamed @riyasdeenriyan, an aspiring entrepreneur and a wizkid audio engineer.”

She further wrote, “The engagement happened on 29th December, my birthday in the presence of close family and loved ones.” As soon as she shared the news, the hashtag of AR Rahman started trending on social media.

Rahman’s daughter Khatija and Riyasdeen engagement ceremony was a private affair with only close friends and family members in attendance. On the work front, Khatija has sung a handful of songs in Tamil movies.

Riyasdeen is an aspiring entrepreneur and an audio engineer of Rahman’s daughter. Khatija first recorded Farishton in 2020 and it was released on YouTube with an animated video. The song talks about freedom and empowerment.
Khatija Rahman, a 23-year-old budding singer, was often bullied online for covering her face. Although Khatija has stated time and again that wearing a burqa is her own choice, some people think that it is AR Rahman who “forces” his daughter to cover herself.
