Renowned Pakistani scriptwriter, host, satirist, and humorist Anwar Maqsood has refuted recent reports suggesting that he was abducted, tortured, and threatened by unidentified individuals a few days ago.
Over the past few days, social media has been abuzz with claims that Maqsood fell victim to an abduction where he was allegedly threatened, tortured, and silenced to prevent him from criticizing the current government and its supporters.
Addressing these reports, Maqsood stated, “The news circulating on social media about me is baseless,” categorizing it as “fake news.” He urged his followers to disregard these unfounded claims, emphasizing, “I neither have any account on social media nor do I watch social media.”
Maqsood pointed out that he became aware of these reports through telephone calls from concerned individuals. Expressing strong denial, he not only rejected the news but also condemned those who disseminated such information without proper verification.
It should be noted that Maqsood frequently criticizes the powerful quarters of Pakistan for interference in politics.
