Al deepfake videos have become a problem due to its potential to create deceptive or misleading content, including the fabrication of videos featuring public figures. Alia Bhatt is the latest victim of deepfake obscene video after Rashmika Mandanna, Katrina Kaif, Kajol and many others fell prey to such scams.
In a viral video, the morphed video of Alia Bhatt shows a girl dressed in a floral co-ord set sitting on the bed and making gestures to the camera. The video clearly shows the lady’s face being edited with Alia’s face as the latter sits on the bed. The manipulated video not only copies the actress’ face, but also copies her voice and gestures quite accurately.
As of yet the actress has not issued a statement on the matter.
Earlier, renowned South Indian actress Rashmika became a victim of AI-generated video.
Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar last week said that the Centre will soon appoint an officer to take appropriate action against such content.
Mr Chandrasekhar said that the existing laws and Rules have clear provisions to deal with Deepfake.
He said the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (Meity) will develop a website on which users can flag their concerns about IT rule violation. “Meity will assist users to notify it about violation of IT rules and assist them in filing a First Information Report or FIR,” the Union Minister said.
