SUKKUR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) stalwart Ali Amin Gandapur has been released from Sukkur Central Jail, after the jail administration initially refused to release him despite his protective bail. The former federal minister was on his way back to Punjab with a convoy when he was released.
Gandapur’s release has come as a relief to PTI leaders and supporters who had been demanding his release. The former federal minister had been in jail for several weeks and spent last days of Ramazan and Eid as well behind the bars. His release is expected to boost the morale of the party.
According to reports gathered by MM News from multiple media sources, the administration of Sukkur Central Jail had previously refused to release Gandapur, citing pending cases against him in Punjab. The PTI leader was wanted by Punjab police in multiple cases, including a hate speech case against state institutions.
