Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal, has directed the relevant ministries to prepare comprehensive business plans to achieve the target of $60 billion in exports over the next five years.
On Monday, the Federal Minister for Planning chaired a high-level meeting to review the export-led development strategy under the “Uraan Pakistan” program. This meeting was the first bi-monthly review session in the series for the first component, “Exports,” under the government’s “Five Es” framework, which provides a roadmap to transform Pakistan into a one trillion-dollar economy by 2035.
During the meeting, Ahsan Iqbal instructed all relevant ministries to form specific working groups, prepare business plans based on clusters, set measurable export targets, and submit comprehensive action plans before the next review meeting scheduled in two weeks.
He emphasized that increasing exports by $60 billion over the next five years should be treated as a national mission. He stated that this is not routine work; a completely different and revolutionary approach must be adopted compared to the past.
The Planning Minister emphasized data-driven planning and value chain development, directing the Ministry of Planning to immediately initiate a comprehensive data analysis process to assess national capacities and map global trends.
