Shahid Afridi, Pakistan’s interim chief selector, has praised Pakistan captain Babar Azam and Sarfraz Ahmed for their excellent performance against New Zealand in the first Test in Karachi.
Taking to twitter, the former Pakistani cricketer and the interim head of the National selection committee said “Pleased with Pakistan’s performance today, great comeback after the early loss of wickets. Special praise for Babar for another outstanding innings. Sarfaraz proved his selection right, excellent performance for him under pressure.”

It should be noted that Shahid Afridi was named the interim chief selector of the Pakistan men’s national team this week, with his one-time team-mates Abdul Razzaq and Rao Iftikhar Anjum part of the three-man committee.
As the interim head of the selection committee, Afridi stated that he wants to help the 27-year-old become a better leader by sharing his experience with him.
“See we are going to run this selection committee taking everyone together as it is not only a captain’s team. A lot of things that were pointed out earlier, we would like to cover them because we want good results. Babar Azam is the backbone of our team. We would want him to join the list of world-class captains just the way he is a world-class player,” Afridi said, while speaking to the local media.
“So we are basically here to support him and share our experiences [with him]. We think we can help him in certain things where improvement as a captain is possible,” the former cricketer added.
