Afghan Interim Ambassador Sardar Ahmad Jan Shakib on Saturday extended an invitation to JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman to visit Afghanistan, party spokesperson Aslam Ghauri said.
Shakib arrived at the Islamabad residence of Rehman where the two held a detailed meeting, he added.
According to Ghauri, the envoy conveyed a special message of the Afghan government to Rehman.
“The interim Ambassador of Afghanistan invited Maulana Fazlur Rehman to visit Afghanistan on behalf of the government of Afghanistan. The two leaders also discussed Pak-Afghan relations,” he said.
It is pertinent to mention that relations between the two countries have been sour after a rise in the terror attacks in Pakistan.
Pakistan blames the outlawed TTP for the attacks targetting military personnel and civilians across the country.
The government had been demanding the Afghan interim government take swift action against the perpetrators of the cross-border attacks in Pakistan and handover over outlawed TTP leadership allegedly based in Afghanistan.
