LOS ANGELES: American actress Tanya Roberts who was earlier report dead is still alive after her representative backtracked on his previous statement.
The ‘Bond Girl’ was reported to have died on Sunday after her public relations representative Mike Pingel told media outlets that her husband confirmed that she has passed away after collapsing in her home.
While the news spread like wildfire after the release was sent out by Pingel, he has now claimed that the actress is still alive and her partner Lance O’Brien had told him that she appeared for him to be “slipping away.”
Pingel further claimed that he received a call on Monday that clarified that while Roberts was in a “poor condition,” she is still alive.
Her longtime partner, O’Brien, explained how the mix-up ended up happening: “[Pingel] goes, ‘What happened?’ And I say, ‘I just said goodbye to Tanya, and I got to see her beautiful eyes one last time.’ And after that, I’m just blubbering. Next thing I know, TMZ, OMG, is on my cell phone.”
Speaking to US media, O’Brien was distraught after saying goodbye to Roberts at her bedside and left Cedars-Sinai Medical Center believing it would be the last time he saw her.
On Monday morning, O’Brien was notified by the hospital that Roberts is still alive. Roberts was hospitalised in Los Angeles on December 24, after she collapsed at her California home following a walk with her dogs. She remains in critical condition, according to Pingel and O’Brien.
Roberts’ career in television and film spans more than 30 years. She played geologist Stacey Sutton in ‘A View to a Kill,’ opposite Roger Moore and appeared in “That 70s Show” as Donna Pinciotti’s mother.
