SARGODHA: Former Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Dr Nadia Aziz, and her brother have been accused of causing a loss of Rs9.156 million to the public exchequer. The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) of Sargodha registered a case against the duo and others.
According to information gathered by MM News, contractor Zufilkar Ali Malik, the ex-MPA’s brother, constructed a private medical college building in Chak 41-NB and reportedly misused Dr Nadia Aziz’s authority with the connivance of officials of the Zila Council.
The ACE alleges that the contractor got the residential map of the building approved instead of commercial, causing a loss of Rs.9.156 million to the Zila Council. The ACE has arrested Zulfikar Ali and is searching for his accomplices.
However, Dr Nadia Aziz claims that she and her family are being politically victimized as the contractor has no connection with the approval of building maps.
It may be added here that the PTI has accused Sohail Zafar Chattha, director-general of the Anti-Corruption Establishment, Punjab, of being biased and even challenged his appointment made by the Mohsin Naqvi-led caretaker Punjab government.
According to the petition filed in the Election Commission of Pakistan, the DG of the anti-corruption department is appointed for a period of three years, and the government had removed Nadeem Sarwar before the completion of his tenure. The petitioner also claimed that the provincial government had illegally appointed Chatta as the new DG.
