KARACHI: An accountability court has issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for former premier Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in a case related to misuse of authority.
The non-bailable arrest warrant was issued to Shahid Khaqan for appointing former Managing Director Pakistan State Oil Imranul Haq in violation of rules. In this regard, the AC has also summoned him next month on 10th April.
Last month, the Executive Board (EB) of the NAB had approved filling fresh evidence against Abbasi over illegal appointments that caused a loss of Rs138.86 million. He was released from jail on February 26 after being in NAB custody since his arrest in July 2019.
Earlier last week, Khaqan Abbasi said that Prime Minister Imran Khan should layout concrete plan against coronavirus. He criticized the incumbent government for failing to manage the arrival of pilgrims from Iran.
He said that the people coming from Taftan have been the primary group affected by the coronavirus. Abbasi claimed that almost 500 people have been entered in Punjab from Taftan, adding that this failure of the government can cause havoc in the country.
