LAHORE: An accountability court has extended the physical remand of media tycoon Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman till 7th April in the illegal property case.
AC Judge Jawadul Hasan conducted the hearing and issued the ruling after hearing the arguments presented by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) counsel as the Bureau filed a petition in which the bureau sought an extension in the physical remand of the accused in the same case.
Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman was arrested by the NAB related to illegal property cases in Lahore. According to NAB, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif had illegally leased the land to Rehman in 1986. NAB had apprehended the media tycoon in a case pertaining to the purchase of a 54 acres land in Lahore.
During the hearing, replying to a question about the cause behind the arrest of the Mir Shakil ur Rahman, the NAB lawyer said that he was apprehended after he botched to give the record to prove the legal acquirement of 54 acres land in Lahore during the occupancy of Shehbaz Sharif in 1986.
