ISLAMABAD: Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Asad Umar has said that about 50 percent of the population in the country received a single coronavirus dose.
The minister took to Twitter and wrote, “We have achieved 50 percent of the target for corona vaccine.” He added that a record number of vaccines were given yesterday and around 1.7 million people were vaccinated against coronavirus on Monday.
He said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has become the second province to provide at least one dose of vaccine to 50 percent of the population eligible for the vaccine. Last month, Asad Umar had stressed the need for meeting the vaccination targets to avoid the fifth wave of COVID-19.

In a tweet, he said if a large number of people remain unvaccinated, we remain vulnerable despite a sharp decline in cases. The Minister said the second dose is vital for protection against COVID-19.
He said the best vaccination progress has been reported in Islamabad, Peshawar, Gilgit, and Mirpur while the progress is good in Skardu, Charsadda and Sargodha. The outbreak of coronavirus in Pakistan has broken out, with over500 more cases of the epidemic reported in the country and 8 people have died.
