KARACHI: The funeral of famous television host and politician Aamir Liaquat Husain will be held tomorrow after Friday prayers.
He will be buried alongside the graves of his parents on the premises of the shrine of Abdullah Shah Ghazi located in Clifton area.
The preparation of Aamir Liaquat’s grave started next to the graves of his father Sheikh Liaquat Hussain and mother Mehmooda Sultana.
MPA Jamal Siddiqui has confirmed that the funeral prayers of Aamir Liaquat will be offered tomorrow after Friday prayers.
“Funeral prayers will be offered near the shrine of Abdullah Shah Ghazi,” Jamal Siddiqui said. He added that Aamir Liaquat’s son will reach Karachi tomorrow at 11 AM
Aamir Liaquat Hussain was born on July 5, 1971, in Karachi, to politician Sheikh Liaquat Hussain and columnist Mahmooda Sultana.
He began his career as a televangelist hosting a religious program, Aalim Online which gained immense popularity. He host several Ramzan transmission and game shows on private channels.
In 2002, he contested his first election on a ticket of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement for the parliamentary constituency of NA-249 in Karachi.
He served as Minister of State for Religious Affair from 2004 to 2007 until he was asked to resign by his political party.
In 2018, he again contested the election for the national assembly constituency NA-245 in Karachi and won on a ticket from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.
He parted away with the PTI in April this year, during the time Khan was facing a vote of no confidence from the opposition parties.
