New research has claimed that people who work night shifts have a much higher risk of heart disease than others.
Research from the medical journal European Heart Journal has found that people who work at night have an abnormally high heart rate. Healthy people working day and night shifts were examined during the study for which the data of 2,80,000 people were compared.
According to experts, people who spend most of their lives working night shifts have a much higher risk of this particular type of heart disease and this is called atrial fibrillation.
People who work night shifts on a regular basis have a 12 percent higher risk of heart disease than those who work during the day. However, experts say that the results show that the risk can be reduced by reducing the duration of the night shift.
Earlier, in March 2021, a study by the Washington State University of Health Sciences also revealed the dangerous effects of the night shift. The team’s research found that people who work night shifts have a higher risk of certain types of cancer.
