Here are some of the classic memes that sold have been officially sold:
‘Friendship ended with Mudasir’
Being a Pakistani, who does not know this meme? It was in 2015 a boy named Asif ended his breakup with his best friend and also introduced a new friend, Salman on Facebook.
The post went viral in which Asif explained how the tale finding a new best friend with a caption, “Those who show (sic) me attitude, I keep them under my foot,” Rana had warned in the caption.”
Meanwhile, the post now has a whopping 47,000 likes, 27,000 comments, and 56,000 shares an the meme has been auctioned off as a Non-Fungible Token for $51,530 (roughly Rs 38,273,13).
‘Disaster girl’
Remember the ‘Disaster girl’? A picture of girl named Zoe Roth with a grinning smile on their face was captured while firefighters work to save a burning home behind her. The image taken in 2005, made the rounds online for years.
It eventually became an iconic meme known as ‘Disaster Girl’ through which Roth, now in her twenties has roughly made $430,000 from.
‘Charlie bit my finger’
An NFT of the video sold for $760,999 in May and the classic video has now left YouTube for good.
The kids from the viral ‘Charlie bit my finger’ video became stars after their clip went viral. The video ‘Charlie bit my finger’ was one of the original viral videos some 14 years ago.
The video, which has been viewed over 880 million times on YouTube has been auctioned off this May for over $760,000.
‘Dodge’
‘Doge,’ the image of an excited-looking Shiba Inu is considered one of the internet’s most iconic and renowned memes. It was sold as a nonfungible token, or NFT, for $4 million this year, making it the most expensive meme NFT of all time.
The image of Kabosu is usually covered with somewhat inarticulate words, typically in Comic Sans typeface, expressing things like “wow” and “so scare.”
