The upcoming film ‘Dai’ based on the taboo subject of illegal abortions will feature Frieha Altaf in the lead role.
Produced by Nauman Khan, the series will premiere on Urdu Flix official. Sharing the picture of Frieha Altaf, the official page of Urdu Flix wrote, “Pakistan’s famous Fashion industry face #friehaaltaf is all set to make it to the digital screen with the lead role in #Urduflix upcoming web series titled ..#DAI.”

This is Altaf’s first leading role as a negative character. Talking about her role in the drama serial, she shared that it’s a dark character but there are many sides to her. “She’s almost a serial killer,” she said.
For Altaf, Dai is a titular character she’s playing, is almost an actor in a role. She also believed working in a web series is a much better experience than a TV series or a movie.
Illegal abortions have been an issue that poses a major health risk to women in Pakistan. While in emergency cases, women are allowed by law to save themselves over the unborn child, or in many cases, their lives are weighed alongside the unborn child’s, with consideration often given to the latter.
Moreover, in many cases, there is shame associated with abortions, and in cases of rape and unwanted pregnancies, women are forced to conceive their children and take their pregnancy to full term.
