KARACHI: The Meteorological Department has predicted that several cities of Sindh, including Karachi, will receive rains for three days from today while the cloud system is expected to strengthen from Thursday evening.
According to details, meteorologist Jawad Memon said that the cloud system will be strengthened from noon and evening today, which will result in the rain on June 18 and 19. Light to heavy rain is expected in almost all areas of Karachi.
Jawad Memon said that there may be wind before the rain. Heavy rains are likely expected in Sarjani Town, Gulshan-e-Hadid, and North Karachi including the highway. Talking about the rains earlier, Jawad Memon said that strong rain systems were seen in the pre-monsoon and there was also unusual thunderstorms. This year’s pre-monsoon can be described as a combination of three different systems.
He said that a system of clouds from the Arabian sea is moving towards the cities of Sindh of which Karachi is the most important. There is a powerful system towards Bengal which will turn towards Pakistan while another system will be in the central and upper parts of the country.

The rain system will be activated in the last week of June. Jawad Memon said that the present system of rains would also cause rains in many rural areas of Sindh where hailstorms are also possible.
According to the Meteorological Department, rain with strong winds and thundershowers is expected in Sindh, North East Balochistan, and South Punjab today. Heavy rain and hail are also expected in some places during this period.
As per the forecast, rain with wind, strong winds, and thundershowers are also expected in some districts of Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir while the weather will remain hot and dry in other districts of the country.
