Amir eyes comeback after receiving assurances from Wasim Khan

LAHORE: Fast bowler Mohammad Amir is expected to make a comeback to cricket after he revealed that Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) CEO Wasim Khan has assured him to address his reservations.

In an interview on the Youtube channel, Amir said that Wasim Khan visited his house before Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 6’s second leg and had a detailed discussion on his retirement.

“Wasim Khan visited my house before PSL 6’s second leg and we had a detailed discussion of my retirement matter. I shared all my concerns with him and he listened to them very seriously,” he said.

“My case was portrayed in a wrong way by current management. But he assured me to address my concerns. If everything goes well, I will make myself available for national team’s selection”.

Amir also expressed his desire to be a part of the national team again. He said taking the personal decision in this society is not allowed and if clarification are given, there are more allegations of making excuses.

Amir had shocked fans by announcing his sudden retirement last year after raising allegations against the team management and head coach Misbah-ul-Haq.

He had also disclosed that he was not getting his due respect in the team and by the management which led him to lose interest in playing for the country. He said that he will be available for selection once the current management leaves.

Earlier Wasim Khan had an interaction with Amir and said he was a valuable player for the team and was making an effort to sort out the issues with the management. “I also made it clear to him that the path he adopted was not right as a senior player. I think Amir is a valuable player for us and we will now make efforts to bring about a rapprochement with him,” Wasim said.

Amir had was embroiled in another rift with the cricket board ever since he made comeback to international cricket. He had complained about being mentally tortured and not being in the correct state of mind to play for his country.

“Right now, I am leaving cricket. I am being mentally tortured. I don’t think, I will be able to handle this kind of torture because I have been tortured a lot from 2010 to 2015,” he had said before announcing to quit cricket.
