Since Malala Yousafzai’s controversial statement over marriage has surfaced, social media users are busy criticising her bold stance over her partnership remark.
It all started when Vogue magazine published an interview with Malala Yousafzai but her comments on marriage and how she does not believe in a formal agreement have outraged Pakistani social media users.
“I still don’t understand why people have to get married,” she said in an interview with the Vogue magazine. “If you want to have a person in your life, why do you have to sign marriage papers, why can’t it just be a partnership?”, she added.
While the statement went viral on social media, Mufti Shahabuddin Popalzai demanded an explanation from Malala’s father. The cleric turned to Twitter and shared he was extremely disturbed by Malala’s statement that invalidated the institution of marriage and supported the idea of two people living together without getting married.

Ziauddin Yousafzai (@ZiauddinY) June 3, 2021
In response, Malala’s father Ziauddin Yousafzai said the statement was taken out of context. Media and social media twisted it, he added.
Malala became the face of Vogue July 2021 edition. During an interview, she opened about her future ambitions and marriage was not one of them. She talked about being the youngest Nobel Peace Prize winner, her ambitions in life, her studies, and which thought scares her the most.
