RAWALPINDI: Chief of Air Staff (CAS) Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber on Monday called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa at GHQ.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations, COAS Bajwa congratulated ACM Zaheer on assumption of command of “one of the most decorated and battle hardened Air Force in the world”.
The army chief expressed his best wishes and hoped that Pakistan Air Force will achieve new heights under his capable command.
Earlier today, President Dr Arif Alvi conferred Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Military) on Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar at a special investiture ceremony held at the Aiwan-e-Sadr.
The president decorated the new air chief with the prestigious award in recognition to his services for the country. The ceremony was attended by senior officials of the government and armed forces.
On March 19, Air Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu took charge as the new Air Chief of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) at a change of command ceremony in Islamabad.
Air Marshal Babar was promoted as vice-marshal in July 2018. Having commanded a fighter squadron, an operational airbase, and regional air command, Air Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar was commissioned in the GD (P) branch of the PAF in April 1986.
During his career, Zaheer served as assistant air chief for operation research and development (R&D), assistant air chief for training officers, and the director-general of projects at the Air Headquarters in Islamabad.
A graduate of the Combat Commanders’ School, Air War College, and the United Kingdom’s Royal College of Defence Studies, he has also served as the additional secretary at the Ministry of Defence.
He has been awarded Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military) and Tamgha-i-Imtiaz (Military) in recognition of his outstanding services.
