RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa arrived in Bahrain where he held meetings with military leaders and discussed issues of mutual interest and regional security situation.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations, the army chief held one-on-one meetings with Commander Bahrain National Guard Field Marshal Mohammed Bin Isa Al Khalifa and Bahrain National Security Adviser Major General Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa during his visit to Bahrain.
They discussed the regional security situation and matters of mutual interest. The COAS offered Pakistan’s complete support in achieving shared interests in bilateral security cooperation including training and capacity building.
Later, delegation-level talks were also held where current developments in Afghan peace process, border security and necessary steps to be undertaken to facilitate an Afghan peace process were discussed.
Earlier on Wednesday, Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov called on Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa in Rawalpindi.
The military’s media wing said that matters of mutual interest, overall regional situation including Afghan Peace Process and bilateral cooperation in various fields were discussed.
Both sides reiterated the desire to further enhance bilateral relations including efforts for peace and security in the region, the ISPR added.
The visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan’s positive role for regional peace and stability, especially the Afghan peace process and pledged to continue working for better relations between two brotherly countries.
