KARACHI: Federal Information Minister Shibli Faraz that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was fighting a war against forces represented by the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) which had caused substantial damage to the country’s morality and institutions.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Sunday (today), the minister said the first job of such forces was to destroy morals, hollow out the country’s institutions, eliminate meritocracy and attain goals through the use of money and force.
Shibli Faraz said everyone was witnessed across the country and among overseas Pakistanis in the wake of PM Imran Khan’s successful vote of confidence in the National Assembly Yesterday.
He said, “I have received thousands of phone calls and messages and there was a feeling of celebration across the country because those opposition forces were overwhelmed.” The opposition represents that part of Pakistan which conducts politics based on its own interests, greed and money, said Faraz.
The minister said no one had accepted this part at first however, bribery and involving money and personal importance in politics, gave birth to a group that became ingrained in the country’s roots.
The purpose of the parliament was to serve the nation’s interests instead of the personal interests of a few individuals or groups, he stressed.
The information minister asked why the PDM did politics in the name of the poor while making properties in Europe, adding that this was evidence they only used politics for their own business.
While the PTI wants a system based on morals, merit, rule of law and affluence in Pakistan, Faraz said, adding that the steadfastness with which the PTI had stuck to this vision was the cause it had political representation across the country while the PDM parties were confined to single provinces.
