ISLAMABAD: President Dr. Arif Alvi on Monday emphasized transforming the existing cities into smart metropolises to improve governance.
Chairing a meeting of the Smart Cities Project in Islamabad today, Dr. Arif Alvi said the living standard of citizens can be improved by utilizing artificial intelligence and database in governance, education and other fields.

The President said the digital revolution is an excellent opportunity to improve the lives of citizens. He said citizens can be provided with facilities in an effective manner through digital technology.
The meeting was briefed that a team of experts has been constituted to convert cities into smart cities, and special national centers have been set up for research and development in specific fields.
It was apprised that the national centers will help in effective transportation of products and investigation into cybercrimes.
The meeting was further briefed that Nigeria has appreciated National Radio Telecommunication Corporation for the provision of modern technology to counter-terrorism.
