KARACHI: Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of the Sindh police have arrested a close aide of a nationalist group, SRA’s chief in Karachi during a joint operation alongside Sindh Rangers on Saturday.
According to a CTD spokesman, a terrorist belonging to a nationalist group was apprehended during a joint action from the paramilitary force and police in the Qayyumabad area of the metropolis.
The arrested terrorist was identified as Vikash Kumar during the raid, the spokesman said adding that he belonged to the Asghar Shah aka Sajjad Shah faction of the Sindhudesh Revolutionary Army (SRA).
He said that the accused hailed from a terrorist nationalist group that was blamed for carrying out attacks on Rangers’ vans and check-posts. The CTD police have already arrested five accomplices of the accused, the CTD spokesman said.
Earlier, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) had arrested two alleged terrorists, who are said to be the members of the banned outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban.
According to details, the arrested alleged terrorists, identified as Bilal and Siddiqullah belong to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces. Both the accused are allegedly involved in financing the terrorists both in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
The CTD officials further said the arrested suspects were involved in the smuggling of a banned chemical from Dubai and Tanzania to finance the terrorists.
They also revealed that both accused have also invested tens of millions in businesses to generate funds for financing the terrorists. The alleged terrorist financiers have been running an active network for smuggling a banned chemical since 2015.
