ISLAMABAD: The court has sentenced a seven years jail to a man convicted for blackmailing a woman by sharing her photos and videos through social media.
The culprit named Afzal has also been fined with Rs. 90,000 for posting obscene photos and videos of a woman through Facebook and WhatsApp.
A case was registered against the accused in June 2020 under the Cyber Crimes Act. After registering the case, he was arrested and his bail application was rejected by the High Court. The trial court in Rawalpindi sentenced the convict to seven years in prison.
It should be noted that there are frequent incidents of harassment of women on social media over the issue of obscene images. However, due to strict measures taken by the FIA and other agencies, the suspects involved in cybercrime are being cordoned off.
