ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Interior Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has asserted that a case will be lodged against Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader Mufti Kifayatullah for ‘speaking against’ Pakistan’s military.
Talking to a local news channel, the federal minister informed that the federal government has decided to lodge a case against Mufti Kifayatullah in Lahore. “The language he used against our great army is not acceptable,” he added.
Mufti Kifayatullah, during a TV talk show, said, “Pakistan army generals too should be held accountable for their theft”. In this regard, Sheikh Rashid said, “If anyone uses abusive language against the armed forces, the law will come into force.”
Meanwhile, in an informal conversation with the media about the Senate elections, the Interior Minister said that if the PPP decides to participate, then it would be natural for PML-N to do so as well.
“Neither will the PML-N resign from the national and provincial assemblies nor will Nawaz Sharif return to Pakistan,” he claimed, adding that the matter of resignations has been sidelined and these parties will even take part in by-polls.
He further said, “Only two resignations were submitted by PML-N members and that made them worried,” adding that every party needs some kind of support to retract their tall claims but the PML-N does not have any.
Speaking about the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), Sheikh Rasheed said that the movement is on the decline with each passing day. “The PDM has been adamant to send the PTI-led government packing, but their mission will never be successful,” he concluded.
