The 11-party opposition, under the banner of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), held its third power show in Quetta on Sunday despite the provincial government’s appeal to postpone the rally amid security threats.
President of the newly formed alliance Maulana Fazalur Rehman, PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz, Awami National Party’s central senior vice president Amir Haider Khan Hoti, Balochistan National Party (BNP) President Sardar Akhtar Mengal, Jamiat Ulema-i-Pakistan (JUP) leader Owais Noorani and others addressed the attendance at the rally.
An unusual situation is being created in the country as the political circus is engulfed in flames aimed at PDM protest. PDM has started its campaign from Gujranwala to seek the ouster of the PTI government.
But the PDM’s real objective as claimed by their leadership is to restore the rule of law and Constitution in the country was now proved a hypnotic claim as in their first power show in Gujranwala, Nawaz Sharif used harsh and derogatory language against the state institution while the same was also repeated in Quetta.
No Pakistani can accept the narrative
No Pakistani can accept the narrative which the opposition PDM has started to present all of a sudden. They are talking against state institutions also about breaking up Balochistan and liberating it… this is basically the agenda of our enemies.
It is beyond the thinking, a convicted person who had been declared an offender by the courts was attacking the state institutions, particularly the Pakistan Army while sitting abroad.
One should be aware as to why the Indian media had been promoting PDM’s processions, particularly the statements of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
Some slogans can even get you in trouble, for chanting them in the wrong place or at the wrong time. As it happened in the cases of Captain Safdar Awan and now Jamiat Ulema-i-Pakistan (JUP) leader Awais Noorani
Controversial speech of Owais Noorani
During his speech, Jamiat Ulema-i-Pakistan (JUP) leader Owais Noorani said that they want Balochistan as an independent state; Maulana Owais Noorani could be heard as saying during the PDM rally in a viral video. Noorani said today Balochistan looks like an underdeveloped area of the country.
The JUP leader said that he had joined the PDM alliance on the assurance that whichever party comes to power, it will give rights to Balochistan. He said that the PDM had risen against unconstitutional power that has made Pakistan hollow from inside and out.
He accused the incumbent government of annoying China as well as Iran and Afghanistan because it had no idea about foreign policy.
Prime Minister’s notice
Regarding the anti-national statement, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Dr Shahbaz Gill said that Prime Minister Imran Khan had taken notice of the statement by Owais against national security.
Gill while sharing the section 125 and 126 of the constitution on his Twitter account said that Owais Noorani and the PDM have committed a severe violation of the constitution.
They spoke of breaking up the state he said and demanded of the lawyer bodies and bar councils to now come forward against it.
Shahbaz Gill further announced that they would not allow anyone to attack the country and Imran Khan would single-handedly led the fight against such elements.
Promoting the enemies’ narrative
Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz taking serious notice of the use of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) platform for raising the slogan of ‘independent Baluchistan’ said the federal government may adopt a new strategy to deal with the opposition’s ongoing protest campaign.
Shibli Faraz criticized PDM for allegedly promoting the enemies’ narrative and attacking the state institutions, particularly the country’s armed forces.
Calling Jamiat Ulema-i-Pakistan (JUP) leader Owais Noorani a political pygmy, the minister regretted that no PDM leader sitting on the stage condemned him for talking about the liberation of Balochistan and breaking up of Balochistan which meant they had endorsed his stance.
The minister had criticized Mr. Noorani for raising the slogan of independent Balochistan” and declared that action would be taken against those promoting the enemies’ narrative.
Murad Saeed respond
Federal Minister for Communications Murad Saeed while responding to the remarks of the PDM leader Owais Noorani said that they were advancing the agenda of India’s National Security Adviser Ajit Doval.
Saeed said they are trying to create divisions within the country. He warned those who are supporting the opposition alliance without knowing their agenda of a grand game for greater Punjab.
CM Balochistan slams
Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal criticized the remarks of Shah Owais Noorani. In a statement issued on Twitter late on Sunday night, the chief minister asked the PDM leadership whose narrative they were promoting at their rally. “It was a public meeting of the PDM or BJP?” he asked.
He lamented the PDM leadership for terming Balochistan as a small province and said that they should stop such rhetoric as all provinces of the country are equal and rather Balochistan is the biggest province of the country.
Needed swift action
Everyone including the PDM has the right to criticize others but they should consider those who are sacrificing their lives so that every Pakistani lives a peaceful life. Every citizen of Pakistan loves his homeland immensely and the soldiers of the Pakistan Army are always ready to lay down their lives to protect the country’s borders.
In such a situation, if a person talks of separating Balochistan, Punjab, Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, what would you like to call it other than the enemy of the country?
The government should take rapid action and give severe punishments to those who want the division of the country and maligning the institution of the country.
Several Pakistani on different socials media websites demanded swift action against Maulana Shah Owais Noorani for peddling the Indian narrative regarding Balochistan.
