KARACHI: The ‘Karachi Theatre Festival’ has concluded successfully at Arts Council.
The event started on 1st October and showcased 24 new theatre plays, performances, discussions, debates and three interactive workshops.
Renowned intellectual and writer Anwar Maqsood congratulated Arts CouncilPresident Ahmad Shah on the successful organisation of the theatre festival. Addressing the closing ceremony, Anwar Maqsood said Ahmad Shah would have defeated Trump if he had been in the United States.
“We should appreciate the young directors,” he said, adding that out 90 percent of drama writers today are women. “There is no lack of talent in Pakistan as the Arts Council has successfully organised the Theatre Festival.
On this occasion, President Arts Council Ahmad Shah said as the doors of the theatre were starting to rust, Anwar Maqsood gave life to the theater through his plays.
He said the creative team of Arts Council made the festival a success. He congratulated the entire team of the Arts Council for organising the wonderful festival.
He further added that the festival was organized with all the SOPs in view of the coronavirus. In the closing ceremony, Anwar Maqsood presented awards to the directors of the Karachi Theatre Festival for the best performance.
On the last day of the festival, Farhan Alam’s play “Good Luck Darling” was presented. The annual festival began with the street theatre play “Safar” directed by Afreen Sahar followed by the play “Heer” by Zain Ahmed.
